Khammam: BJP government at the Centre has meted out grave injustice to erstwhile Khammam district in the allocation of funds in previous budgets, alleged Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
He noted that the four BJP MPs from Telangana did nothing in terms of funds allocation to the district and the State from the Centre. MPs who were supposed to stay in Delhi and ensure funds for the State’s development have been behaving in a way that people despise.
In a statement here on Monday Ajay Kumar demanded the BJP MPs, if keen to protect the interests of Telangana, should highlight the Centre’s vicious discrimination towards Telangana and combined Khammam district in the budget sessions of the parliament.
The minister expressed anger at the Centre for showing an empty hand to the district in budget allocations every time. The BJP MPs should focus on the issues like Bayyaram steel factory, development of Godavari waterway to from Cherla to Rajahmundry in AP to connect to Kakinada port, Bhadrachalam-Kovvur railway project, Central grant for Godavari river pollution mitigation like Ganga in the north in the budget sessions, he demanded.
Ajay Kumar also wanted them to seek assurance from the Centre on the allocation of funds for the establishment of various education institutions and implement employment generating initiatives promised in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Long pending issues such as the demerger of gram panchayats on AP and Telangana borders has to be addressed immediately. The BJP MPs should put pressure on the Centre for laying Bhadrachalam-Kirandul railway line and from Pandurangapuram to Sarapaka to facilitate railway transport to Bhadrachalam, popularly known as South Ayodhya in the country, Ajay Kumar noted.
The minister complained that though the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao went to Delhi and met the Prime Minister Nandra Modi and the State government wrote many letters to the Centre on the institutions, funds and industries the BJP government turned a blind eye to the needs of Telanagna.
He lamented that the BJP leaders and MPs have never spoke about the injustice being done to the state by the Centre, which has been discriminating Telangana, which has emerged as the new state after a long struggle.
