Puvvada directs officials to suspend GP secretary for negligence of duties

Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar conducted a surprise inspection at Manchukonda village in Raghunathapalem mandal in the district on Wednesday and directed officials to suspend the gram panchayat secretary for negligence in discharing his duties.
The minister conducted the inspection of Palle Pragathi works executed at the village in the wake of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s proposed tour in the districts in the State. He enquired the sarpanch and officials about progress made under Palle Pragathi.
When the minister sought to know the officials about greenery, sanitation, nursery, tractor maintenance and others at the village they gave inconsistent answers about the progress made under the programme. Outraged by the answers of the officials, the minister directed DPO to suspend the gram panchayat (GP) secretary B Ramkey.
Speaking to the media, Ajay Kumar informed that he would soon hold a meeting with Additional Collectors, DPOs, DLPOs and MPDOs of erstwhile Khammam district to discuss measures to prevent the spread of malaria, Chikungunya and dengue fevers during the monsoon season.
The minister informed that he would take up surprise inspections in all the villages in the district and serious action would be taken against the village officials if they fail to maintain sanitation, greenery, nurseries and tractors in a proper manner.
Earlier, Ajay Kumar distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubakak cheques to about 151 beneficiaries belonging to Khammam Urban and Raghunathapalem mandals. He handed over cheques worth Rs 1.51 crores.
The minister informed that around 5, 336 families in Khammam Assembly constituency were given Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubakak cheques worth Rs 47.20 crore so far. The Chief Minister was ensuring sufficient funds to the programme even during Covid crisis, he said.
MLC B Lakshminarayana, SUDA Chairman, B Vijay Kumar, Mayor, P Neeraja, Deputy Mayor, Shaik Fatima Zohara, RDO Ravindranath and others were present.
