Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar riding on a motorbike visited several municipal divisions in Khammam to distribute Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques to beneficiaries.
He distributed cheques to around 185 beneficiaries at their doorsteps along with a saree and fruits which he presented to the beneficiaries at his own expense. Financial assistance to newly married women under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak scheme was a unique scheme in the country, the minister said.
Ajay Kumar stated that the distribution of cheques at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries would give a chance to interact with the family members of the beneficiaries and explain how the TRS government cared for them.
Over 5,000 families have benefited from Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak scheme in the Khammam Assembly constituency in which so far Rs 50 crore was distributed under the scheme.
The beneficiary families would greatly be indebted to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for releasing the cheques without any hindrance even during the Covid crisis, Ajay Kumar noted. SUDA Chairman, Bachu Vijay Kumar, Mayor P Neeraja and others were present.
