Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Redddy on Monday said former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao put the country on the growth track by introducing revolutionary economic reforms.
Paying rich tributes to Narasimha Rao on his 101st birth anniversary after garlanding PV’s portrait here, Indrakaran said the former prime minister was a versatile and able administrator and a statesman who brought recognition to Telangana with his impeccable governance. “Narasimha Rao paved the way for development of the country by implementing various economic reforms. The reforms played a vital role in the growth of India,” he said.
The minister stated that the government had recognized his contributions to the transformation of the country and it was conducting celebrations throughout the year to mark his centenary birth anniversary. In Spite of precious services by Rao, the Congress forgot him. But, the State had realized his matchless efforts and gave the party’s ticket to his daughter Vanidevi. And, the popular Necklace road was renamed as PV Marg, he remarked.
Indrakaran went down memory lane and recalled accounts with Narasimha Rao. He stated that he had known the ex-prime minister since 1991. I had extended support to the government formed by Rao when I was the Member of Parliament of Adilabad. I had the opportunity to meet him several times when he was the prime minister. I was fortunate to work with him when I was a member of the standing committee on rural development formed by Parliament.
Meanwhile, legislators Jogu Ramanna, Nadipelli Diwakar Rao, Athram Sakku and Koneru Konappa, Zilla Parishad chairpersons Rathod Janardhan, K Vijayalaxmi, Kova Laxmi and N Bhagyalaxmi paid tributes to Narasimha Rao. They recalled his contribution to the remarkable growth of the country. They hailed him for the introduction of economic reforms.
