Hyderabad: Olympic champion PV Sindhu on Saturday urged people to treat preventive health check-ups with the same seriousness as fitness training, calling them essential for long-term performance in sports and everyday life.
Speaking at the first anniversary celebrations of GVK Diagnostics & Specialty Clinics in Jubilee Hills, under the Independence Day–inspired theme Freedom of Good Health, Sindhu shared lessons from her journey—from discipline and recovery to the importance of acting early to avoid setbacks.
In a conversation with Keshav Reddy and Veena Reddy of the GVK family, the discussion ranged from light-hearted moments to serious takeaways.
Asked whether resisting ice cream was tougher than winning an Olympic medal, Sindhu laughed before turning reflective: “Winning medals is tough, but saying no to ice cream can feel tougher. At the end of the day, it’s discipline, recovery, and preventive care that keeps me in the game. Consistency is what matters most, and prevention of injuries and illness keeps you there for longer.”
