Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival kick-starts
The Chief Justice of High Court inaugurates the 15th edition of the fest which opened with 'Quli: Dilon ka Shahzaada'

The annual Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival got off to a grand start at the historic Moazzam Jahi Market with the staging of the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation’s internationally-acclaimed play Quli: Dilon ka Shahzaada.
The Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, Raghvendra Singh Chauhan, unveiled the brochure of Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival 2020 in the presence of Begum Razia Baig, chairperson of Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation, Arvind Kumar, Commissioner of DIPR and Principal Secretary, MA&UD and KS Sreenivas Raju, Principal Secretary – Tourism and Culture.
The recently-restored Moazzam Jahi Market courtyard served as an imposing backdrop for the play which retold the love legend of the legendary king Quli Qutub Shah. Directed by Mohammad Ali Baig and written by Noor Baig, this heritage play has been staged at 50 international festivals around the world, including at University of Oxford and Edinburgh Fringe. The play featured Mohammad Ali Baig, Noor Baig, Rashmi Seth, Vijay Prasad and a Qawwali by musicians of the Warsi gharana.
After the staging of the play, the festival was declared open. The rest of the festival continues at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Hyderabad in Banjara Hills till November 22 with different plays presented by groups from Mumbai, Guwahati, Jaipur and Delhi.
