Quacks held as Cyberabad police raid 10 unauthorised clinics in Medchal, Sangareddy
Cyberabad police, along with health authorities, raided 10 unauthorised clinics in Medchal and Sangareddy districts and arrested 10 persons for practising medicine without valid qualifications. Officials said the accused were even conducting paediatric consultations and administering intravenous fluids, posing serious risks to patients.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police, in coordination with the District Medical and Health authorities raided 10 unauthorised clinics in Medchal and Sangareddy districts and apprehended 10 persons allegedly practising medicine without the required qualifications or valid medical credentials.
According to police, the persons detained were found running clinics and treating patients despite not possessing the necessary qualifications to practice medicine. The raids also revealed that some of them were conducting pediatric consultations and treating children, raising concerns over the safety of patients.
Police said some of the clinics had beds where patients were admitted and treated. The operators were also allegedly administering intravenous fluids and saline to patients despite lacking the requisite medical training and expertise.
DCP Qutbullapur, N Koti Reddy said that treatment by unqualified persons could result in misdiagnosis, inappropriate medication, and serious medical complications and, in extreme cases, loss of life
The teams seized medical equipment and other material from the clinics, including nine stethoscopes, nine blood pressure machines, six thermometers, a pulse oximeter, a weighing machine, a blood sugar testing machine and a prescription book. Expired medicines, syringes, saline bottles and stands were also seized.
Police said cases have been registered against the fake doctors.
