Hyderabad: Quick response from the Rachakonda Police prevented the skirmish over transportation of cattle at Karmanghat from escalating on Tuesday night.
On getting information about the clash, police from nearby police stations rushed to Meerpet and Saroornagar police stations to assistant the local police in ensuring peace.
“With the help of the Hyderabad police, we managed to arrest seven persons who were involved in the attack on cow vigilantes immediately,” Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said.
Even as police patrolling was intensified in sensitive areas in Meerpet and Saroornagar, a group of persons belonging to a particular group reached the Hanuman temple at Karmanghat and tried to stage a rasta roko.
More police force was mobilized to contain trouble and neighbouring police stations of Hyderabad were also alerted to prevent entry of trouble-mongers.
“Roads leading to the troubled areas were closed by our teams and a watch was maintained on local trouble mongers. A handful of people pelted stones at the police and damaged vehicles. But we dispersed them using little force. The trouble was confined to a small pocket,” Bhagwat said.
Special teams are formed to nab all those who were involved in the trouble. The attack of police personnel and vehicles was filmed using mobile phones and handy cams.
“Footage from surveillance camera is being checked to identify those involved,” he said.
The situation remained peaceful on Wednesday in and around Karmanghat. The police continued patrolling the areas where trouble was reported. Police pickets were also deployed at all sensitive areas.
