Hyderabad: A revenue official working as a Junior Assistant and in charge of Grama Paalana Officer (Village Revenue Officer) at the Quthbullapur Tahsildar Office was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while allegedly accepting a bribe on Monday.
The official, identified as G Ganesh, was caught when he was reportedly taking Rs 15,000 from a complainant for processing a family member certificate. Officials said the officer had initially demanded Rs 20,000 for clearing the file and had already received Rs 5,000 earlier.
Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and seized the remaining bribe amount from him. They said the accused official had misused his position to seek illegal gratification for performing his duties.
He was produced before the ACB court for remanding in judicial custody.
