Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team along with the Hayathnagar police nabbed two interstate drug peddlers here on Wednesday. Police recovered 200 kilos of marijuana, a truck and other material, all together worth Rs 40.5 lakh from them.

The arrested persons were Devendar Singh (45) from Bharathpur Town in Rajasthan and P.Ravindra Kumar Pandith (40), a truck driver from Hathras of Uttar Pradesh. Two suspects, Yadav and Hari, were absconding.

According to the police, Devendar, Ravindra and Yadav were close friends while Yadav was a drug peddler transporting marijuana from the Araku area of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh.

“During this process, about three years ago, Yadav got acquainted with Hari from Araku area, and since then he was purchasing marijuana from him on a regular basis. Yadav was using Devendar and Ravindra for the illicit transportation of the marijuana from Araku,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.

Yadav chose transport trucks plying Southern and Northern States and arranged secret cabins behind the driver’s seat to hide the marijuana.

“He purchased marijuana from Hari for Rs 3,000 per kg and sold it to customers for Rs 10,000 per kg,” police said, adding that on April 7, they arranged a truck and loaded 40 bags, each weighing 5 kgs, of marijuana from Andhra Pradesh.

They were caught when they reached Hayathnagar.
