He inspected various immersion points in Rachakonda including the Saroornagar tank and Safilguda Lake. “Around 5,000 policemen are on duty in Rachakonda. There are 24 immersion points and the process will continue till Monday afternoon,” he told reporters.

The authorities made elaborate arrangements at the Saroornagar tank to facilitate the immersion of the idols. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the local DRF team of the GHMC were posted at the Saroornagar tank as a precautionary measure.

The Commissioner said all the rowdy sheeters were bound over while police pickets were posted at sensitive places and patrolling was being done to prevent property offences. “Surveillance is being done with the help of cameras and IT teams are monitoring social media platforms to identify rumour mongers,” he said.
