Rachakonda police nabs gang of four thieves, recovers property worth Rs. 19.4 lakh

Hyderabad: A four-member gang, which was allegedly stealing ornaments from temples, was arrested by the Rachakonda Police on Saturday. The police recovered property worth Rs.19.40 lakh from them.
The arrested persons were identified as P Chinna Satyanandam (31), Daravath Naveen (25), Gandam Sammaiah (24) and Jangala Prasad (27). Another gang member Mandla Nagendar was absconding.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, while announcing the arrest of the gang, said the suspects were involved in 11 cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
“They stole cars and bikes after changing the number plates. The gang would conduct recces of temples and later steal gold and silver ornaments,” the Commissioner said.
To avoid getting caught, the gang would avoid toll gates where police checking was regular and where surveillance cameras were installed. In December last, the gang broke into a temple in LB Nagar and stole gold ornaments weighing 21.5 tolas.
The gang was involved in property offences including four temple theft cases in Nalgonda, Rachakonda, West Godavari and Vijayawada. They were previously arrested in various criminal cases.
The police recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 10.75 lakh, a car, a bullet, a bike, gas cylinder and cutting machines from them.
