Hyderabad: A seminar on drug menace was conducted by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat on Saturday. Police officers from the ranks of inspector to Deputy Commissioners of Police participated. Guest speaker Gopala Krishna Ghokale, Special Public Prosecutor (Retd.), delivering a lecture on the NDPS Act, explained investigation procedures, search and seizure, technical aspects, powers and responsibilities of investigation officers and important judgments.

Bhagwat, on the occasion, dealt in detail with various sections of the NDPS Act and instructed all inspectors to utilise provisions of the Act, conduct surprise checks and raids and to keep a close watch on drug users and transporters. He also called for strict enforcement and efforts for convictions in drug cases.
