Rachakonda Police organises International Women’s Day virtual meet

Hyderabad: A virtual session was held by the Rachakonda Police with women police personnel from SHE teams, Margadarshaks, Sangahamitras of Rachakonda Security Council and SHE for Her volunteers, in view of International Women’s Day.
The online meeting was also attended by different police officers of Rachakonda including Commissioner Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Additional Commissioner, Sudheer Babu, and DCP Malkajgiri, Rakshita Murthy.
In line with the “Choose to Challenge” theme of the International Women’s Day, Bhagwat asked people to break gender stereotyping. “Women are not idols for respecting them only one day, they should be respected every day,” he said.
He said the Rachakonda Police are empowering women by forming margadarshaks, sanghamitras, She for her, She teams and that Rachakonda police is striving to build a safe society where our daughters can have the freedom at home or outside.
The Commissioner further said that through a participative approach with RKSC, NGO and civil society, Rachakonda Police is striving to build confidence building measures in the women and community.
Sudheer Babu said, “Women have to be self-reliant which will be possible due to economic independence and one who reaches a status should pay back to society by ensuring everyone has a level playing field”.
Rakshitha Murthy, DCP Malkajgiri said that no woman is perfect and it is the imperfections that make them strong, raw and beautiful. She said she chose to challenge patriarchal notions of beauty and that through RKSC and She teams, Rachakonda Police is implementing various programs in the direction of woman empowerment.
