Rachakonda records over 3,488 road accidents in 2025; deaths, injuries rise
Rachakonda reported 3,488 road accidents in 2025, with deaths rising to 659 and injuries to 3,219. Accidents on the ORR surged, while traffic enforcement wings booked over 17,000 violations and fined Rs 3.88 crore for offences, including drunken driving.
Hyderabad: The Road Safety data for 2024 and 2025 reveal a rise in total road accidents in Rachakonda, with enforcement agencies stepping up action against traffic violations to curb fatalities and injuries.
According to figures released by Rachakonda Police on Monday, the commissionerate has recorded 3,207 road accident cases in 2024, which increased to 3,488 cases in 2025. While fatal accidents marginally dipped from 624 to 621, non-fatal accidents rose from 2,583 to 2,867. The number of deaths increased from 653 in 2024 to 659 in 2025, and those injured went up sharply from 3,003 to 3,219.
On the Outer Ring Road (ORR), accidents showed a steeper rise. Total cases jumped from 52 in 2024 to 76 in 2025. Fatal accidents increased from 19 to 26, while non-fatal cases rose from 33 to 50. The ORR also saw deaths climb from 21 to 37 and injuries from 31 to 80.
Meanwhile, traffic enforcement wings intensified checks across the city. Under Traffic–I, lakhs of violations were booked, including wrong-side driving, over-speeding, triple riding, signal jumping, and driving without helmets or licences.
Police registered over 9,400 drunken driving cases, leading to 2,112 licence suspensions, court fines exceeding Rs 2.11 crore, and imprisonment in several cases.
Similarly, Traffic–II reported massive enforcement against overspeeding, wrong-side driving, helmetless riding, signal jumping, and licence violations. The wing booked 8,277 drunken driving cases, resulting in 3,709 licence suspensions and court fines amounting to Rs 1.77 crore.
