Rachakonda She Teams caught 162 persons, including 70 minors, for harassing women in public during a two-week special drive. They also handled 180 complaints, registered five criminal cases, and conducted decoy operations in metro trains to curb harassment
Hyderabad: In a fortnight, the Rachakonda She Teams nabbed 162 persons, including 70 minors, for harassing women and girls in public places such as bus stands, railway and metro stations, schools, colleges and markets.
All the offenders were caught during a special drive conducted between September 16 and 30.
The offenders were produced in court and counselled in the presence of their families by the Women Safety Wing.
During the same period, the teams handled 180 complaints, including 36 received over phone, 69 through social media and 72 in person. Among these, five criminal cases were registered, 68 petty cases were booked and 92 persons were counselled.
She Teams also conducted decoy operations in metro trains and caught seven men entering women’s compartments, with fines imposed by metro authorities.
