Rachakonda Women Safety Wing reports major rise in child rescues in 2025
Rachakonda Police’s Women Safety Wing reported a rise in interventions, child rescues, and awareness operations in 2025. Over 3,500 children were rescued under ‘Operation Smile’ and ‘Operation Muskaan,’ while 735 decoy operations, including Metro Train operations, were conducted.

Hyderabad: The Women Safety Wing registered a significant increase in interventions, counselling and child rescue operations in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to official data released by the Rachakonda Police on Monday.
In 2025, the wing registered 156 FIRs, while 1,281 petty cases were booked. In comparison, 2024 saw 208 FIRs and 1,092 petty cases.
Meanwhile, child rescue operations also saw a major rise.
Under ‘Operation Smile’, police rescued 1,071 children in 2025, including 581 boys and 287 girls within the State, and 158 boys and 40 girls from outside the State. This marked a sharp increase from 2024, when 183 children were rescued within the State and 22 outside the State.
Similarly, ‘Operation Muskaan’ recorded large-scale rescues in 2025, with 2,479 children brought back to safety. This included 1,022 boys and 1,331 girls within the State, along with 208 boys and 326 girls rescued from other states. In 2024, the total number of children rescued under Operation Muskaan stood at 1,760.
The Women’s Safety Wing also intensified proactive policing and awareness initiatives. During 2025, police conducted 735 decoy operations, including a Metro Train decoy operation.
