Rahul Gandhi makes controversial remarks on bureaucrats

We do not want a bureaucratic caste census. We don’t want some bureaucrats sitting in some corner somewhere and deciding the questions that caste census will ask. In fact, this will be an insult to the people of India,” he said.

Hyderabad: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has stirred a controversy with his remarks over bureaucrats and their style of functioning.

Speaking at the Congress party’s State level consultation on caste census here on Tuesday, the Congress MP complimented the Telangana’s leadership for the caste census process.

“We do not want a bureaucratic caste census. We don’t want some bureaucrats sitting in some corner somewhere and deciding the questions that caste census will ask. In fact, this will be an insult to the people of India,” he said. “We want the people of India to ask and decide what questions to be asked in the caste census. We want the dalits, adivasis and women to decide,” he added.

Meanwhile, despite denials by Congress leaders that BRS turncoat MLAs had not joined the party, the presence of a few BRS defectors at the programme exposed their false claims.

Former Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, who is now Government Advisor, former Minister Kadiyam Srihari and former Minister Danam Nagender, participated in the programme. They were seen speaking with other senior Congress leaders at the venue all through the programme.
