Rahul Gandhi says AIADMK is BJP mask, alleges plan for puppet CM in Tamil Nadu
Rahul Gandhi alleged in Tiruchirappalli that AIADMK is acting as a mask for the BJP, which aims to install a compliant chief minister in Tamil Nadu, while also accusing the Centre of targeting opposition and weakening federal balance
Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged that AIADMK was only a mask for the BJP, which wants to install a chief minister in Tamil Nadu who will “sell” the state and listen exactly to what Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah want.
Gandhi alleged that the leaders of Tamil Nadu’s main opposition party, AIADMK, are compromised because of their corruption.
Addressing an election rally here, the third and last in his one-day election campaign in the state for the April 23 polls, he alleged that the BJP wanted at all costs to remove DMK president MK Stalin as chief minister and appoint a “puppet” in his place.
He hailed the main opposition AIADMK as a historical party in Tamil Nadu which played an important role in the state.
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha alleged: “Today’s AIADMK is fundamentally different from the old. It is different because today’s AIADMK is a mask for the BJP. It is the method by which the BJP-RSS wants to infiltrate Tamil Nadu. Why do they want to infiltrate Tamil Nadu? Because they hate your culture, tradition and your language.” Tamil was not an ordinary language and it is the soul of the people of Tamil Nadu.
The BJP does not appreciate the Tamil mind, Tamil spirit, the spirit of freedom or the intellectual freedom of the Tamil people. “That is why they have captured the soul of the AIADMK.” Gandhi alleged that leaders of the AIADMK are compromised because of their corruption.
The ED, CBI and Income Tax departments are used against them and their corruption is their biggest disadvantage.
“The BJP knows that it can never control CM Stalin. The BJP knows that Stalin will not compromise on principles of TN,” the Congress leader said.
Regarding the Constitutional amendment bill’s defeat in Parliament, he said the truth was that they were not trying to pass the women’s bill.
He alleged, “They were trying to use the women’s bill as camouflage to pass the delimitation bill. What they wanted to do was change the electoral map of India, reduce seats and representation of south India, the small states and north eastern states.”
He said he was proud that the opposition joined forces and defeated the “nefarious design” of the BJP-led Centre. For the time being, they were unable to change the electoral map of India. He alleged that the BJP believed in spreading hatred and inequality in the country.
“They create fights between religions, languages and communities. They attack minorities, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, all across the country, create instability and weakness in the country.” The BJP wants to support two or three big companies so that they can fund their electoral machine.
One of the things that irritates them most is Tamil Nadu’s history of social justice. They do not like the idea that Tamil Nadu has followed the path of social justice, the path of equality and fairness towards lower castes. This is something the whole of India must be proud of, Gandhi said.
Many states can learn from Tamil Nadu’s work on social justice, empowerment and protection of women.
“You must have seen PM Modi’s face in Parliament. Whenever he comes to Parliament, he cannot look into our eyes. The reason for this is he is a compromised PM, he has been thoroughly compromised and Narendra Modi is controlled by Donald Trump.
“Whatever Trump says, Modi will do. If Trump wants Modi to jump, he will do that. That is exactly what Modi wants the AIADMK chief Palaniswami to do. Trump’s control on the prime minister resulted in the US-India deal and Modi sold India to the United States. He sold our farmers, labourers, small and medium businesses. He sold our data and he sold our energy security.”
The reason is PM Modi wants to protect his own image. “America controls the Prime Minister through the Epstein files,” he alleged. The United States also understands fully the financial relationship between the prime minister and Adani.
With these “two instruments,” Trump fully controls Modi and made him sell India to the United States.
“That is exactly what the BJP wants to do. It wants to place a CM in TN who will sell Tamil Nadu and listen exactly to what Narendra Modi and Amit Shah want.” Gandhi asserted that “they can dream but we will never allow BJP-RSS to enter TN.”
“We will never allow them to attack Tamil culture, Tamil history and Tamil language.” Everybody was aware that his relationship with Tamil Nadu was not a political relationship but one of mutual respect, love and affection.
The Congress leader said his ties with TN were very old and said the people showed the same warm sentiments and feelings towards him as they had for his grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi.
“I want you to know that I will protect the interests of TN and the Tamil people. I am your soldier in Delhi. Whatever TN needs in Delhi, I will fight for that.” People just need to tell him what needs to be done and he would do it.
“I am proud of you, for what you have done for this country, your tradition, culture and language. In this election, remember we are fighting to keep the BJP-RSS out of the state,” he said.
