Siddipet: Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the Komuravelly railway station on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, he said spiritual tourism to the Komuravelly temple would get a boost with railway connectivity, as rail travel was relatively much cheaper than other modes of transport.

Stating that the railway station has just one platform now, Reddy said railway authorities would construct two additional platforms and a loop line. The Union Minister said the South Central Railway would take up the electrification of the Kothapalli-Manoharabad railway line with an outlay of Rs 330 crore, apart from spending another Rs 40 crore on additional platforms and a loop line at the Komuravelly railway station.

Since the temple is located a few kilometres away from the railway station, the Union Minister asked the railway authorities to operate special buses from the railway station to the temple whenever trains stop there. He further said the rail connectivity would help farmers transport their produce to Hyderabad and other places without any difficulty.

The Union Minister said the railway line works up to Sircilla would be completed by the end of this year. Thereafter, he said, the railway line would be extended up to the Vemulawada temple and Kothapalli in a phased manner.

Explaining the Centre’s efforts to provide rail connectivity to the Yadadri temple, he said it had sanctioned Rs 500 crore to provide MMTS rail connectivity to the temple. Reddy asked the State government to expedite land acquisition for the project.

Giving Telangana top priority, the Union Minister said the Centre had allotted three bullet train projects to the State apart from introducing multiple Vande Bharat trains. Reddy also elaborated on the various railway projects being undertaken in Telangana.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay, Rajya Sabha member Dr K Lakshman, Medak MP M Raghunandan Rao, Bhongir MLA Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, MLC Anji Reddy and Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy were present.
