Vijayawada: Despite Centre sanctioning funds, several railway projects in Andhra Pradesh were stopped due to the failure of the state government to contribute its share, BJP state president Somu Veerraju said here on Sunday.
Talking to reporters, he said that the Centre had sanctioned Rs.35,000 crore for railway projects and was ready to give another Rs.25,000 crore. However, the state government had not paid its share which saw the projects being stopped.
He also pointed out that the Centre was sanctioning 25 lakh houses for every state and gae Rs.10,000 crore under the national rural employment guarantee scheme. On the sale of liquor in AP, Veerraju wondered why there were no bills for liquor sales though GST was applicable to all. He also alleged that the state government was collecting Rs.2 towards road cess without undertaking road repairs. It was also collecting a cess of Rs.4 without constructing the capital city, he stated.
