Rains disrupt normal life in Mancherial, Asifabad; two survive tractor mishap

Rainfall disrupted daily life in Mancherial and Asifabad districts, cutting off villages and overturning a tractor in floodwaters. Mancherial recorded a 35% rainfall deficit, while Asifabad was closer to normal. One mandal in Mancherial exceeded seasonal expectations.

Mancherial/Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Light to moderate rainfall from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning disrupted normal life in parts of Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts.

In the Mancherial district, swollen streams due to heavy rains in some areas affected road connectivity to several villages. A tractor carrying two daily-wage labourers overturned while attempting to cross a flooded stream near Thangallapalli village in Bheemini mandal. Both managed to swim to safety.


The district recorded an average rainfall of 48.7 mm, with Bheemini mandal receiving the highest at 97.2 mm, followed by Jaipur with 80.9 mm. Thandur, Jannaram, Dandepalli, Mandamarri, Mancherial, and Naspur mandals each registered more than 50 mm of rainfall.

From June 1 to July 23, Mancherial district recorded 258 mm of actual rainfall against a normal of 394 mm, reflecting a 35 percent deficit. All 17 mandals in the district reported deficient rainfall, except Bheemini mandal, which received 429 mm against a normal of 414 mm.

In Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, the average rainfall stood at 23.7 mm. Tiryani mandal received the highest at 62.3 mm. Lingapur, Jainoor, and Rebbena mandals registered rainfall between 30 mm and 50 mm. The actual rainfall in the district was 444 mm against a normal of 452 mm.
