Rains lash Hyderabad again, triggering waterlogging and reservoir outflows

After a brief dry spell, heavy rains returned to Hyderabad on Saturday evening, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions across several key areas. The downpour led to increased inflows into Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, prompting HMWSSB to lift multiple gates.

Hyderabad: After a brief hiatus, rains returned to lash the city on Saturday evening. And the sight of waterlogged streets and traffic chaos in the city returned too.

Several areas in the city and suburbs including Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Punjagutta, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Lakdi-ka-pul, Abids, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Hayatnagar, Miyapur, and Balanagar, experienced heavy rainfall. Areas in the IT corridor, such as Hitec City, Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Manikonda, also reported significant rain.

HMWSSB lifted the gates of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar due to the heavy inflows from upstream areas.

Osman Sagar:

FTL: 1790.00 Feet (3.900 TMC)

Present level: 1789.35 Feet (3.751 TMC)
Inflows: 600 Cusecs

Outflow: 2,652 Cusecs
Gates: 6 Gates opened to a height of 4 feet

Himayat Sagar:

FTL: 1763.50 Feet (2.970 TMC)

Present Level: 1762.95 (2.780 TMC)
Inflows: 400 Cusecs

Outflow: 1981 Cusecs
Gates: 2 Gates opened to a height of 3 feet
