Rains leave footpath dwellers struggling for shelter in Hyderabad
Many homeless people in Hyderabad are suffering due to heavy rain. With no proper shelter, they sleep on pavements, under flyovers or trees. They ask for help like raincoats, shelters, and basic needs from the government during the monsoon
Hyderabad: Footpath dwellers who make the pavements their home are suffering a lot due to the continuous rains.
With no safe shelter, the people are sitting on the pavements, covering themselves with plastic sheets and waiting for the rain to stop. A few lucky find some safe space in front of the shops that have temporarily closed, while a few manage to take shelter under well-grown trees. The flyover provides shelter for some.
The homeless people are largely concentrated on the pavements at Public Garden, Puranapul, Musalamjung Bridge, Victory Playground Chaderghat, Chanchalguda flyover, Clock Tower, Secunderabad, Indira Park among other places.
The affected seek help from the administration in the form of some safe shelter, rain coats and other basics during the monsoon.
