Hyderabad: Rains that have been lashing the city and its surrounding areas in the last week have resulted in heavy inflows into the Himayat Sagar.
On Monday around 9 am, the water level at the reservoir was recorded at 1,762.60 feet against the FTL of 1,763.50 feet. The reservoir has been getting steady inflows with 277 cusecs being the recorded inflow till 9 am.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) issues a red alert when the water level touches 1,762.75 feet and then opens the gates if the level touches 1,763 feet.
In case the gates are opened, downstream areas of Bandlaguda, Sun City colony, Kismatpur and Budvel would be affected. The reservoir capacity is 2.97 TMC and by Monday the water level reached 2.715 TMC.
