Hyderabad: After films like Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye and Toby, Raj B Shetty is now part of director Gurudatha Ganiga’s upcoming film Karavali. Set against the coastal backdrop of Karnataka, the film also stars Prajwal Devaraj in the lead.
Raj plays Maveera, a key character whose poster was recently unveiled. The image, showing him standing with two buffaloes and holding a whip, has sparked interest among viewers, especially those familiar with coastal traditions like Kambala.
Director Gurudatha Ganiga shared that the role of Maveera needed someone who could truly understand the culture. “We tried several actors, but something didn’t click. When I met Raj, he was caught up with other projects. But after watching some of the footage we had shot, he agreed to come on board,” he said.
The film is said to explore themes of survival, loyalty, and the relationship between man and beast. Shot extensively across coastal Karnataka, Karavali also features Mitra, Ramesh Indira, and Sampada. Music is by Sachin Basrur, with cinematography by Abhimanyu Sadanandan.
Produced by VK Film Association and Ganiga Films, the film is in its final stages and is expected to release later this year.
