Hyderabad: On the last day of International Breast Cancer awareness month, following the permission given by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, the historic Raj Bhavan was illuminated in pink on Saturday.

The endeavour was to create awareness about importance of early detection and spread the message of hope, courage and survival in the fight against breast cancer. This is the first time for a Raj Bhavan to support a breast cancer awareness initiative.

On this occasion, Governor lauded Dr P Raghu Ram, founder and CEO of Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation for his efforts over the past 13 years towards creating awareness about importance of early detection through a number of innovative projects.

“For Diwali, instead of buying a saree, please gift your loved ones who are over the age of 40, an annual screening mammogram. Early detection saves lives,” said Dr Raghu Ram, Director for KIMS – Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases.
