Raja Singh opposes construction of new OGH building at Goshamahal
"If the hospital was constructed at Goshamahal stadium, it will be difficult for the people of the Old City and other areas to reach due to poor connectivity. It will be better if the new hospital building is constructed at the OGH premises,"he suggested.
Hyderabad: Days after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed the officials to construct a new building for Osmania General Hospital(OGH) on 32 acres at Goshamahal stadium to cater to the medical and health needs of the people, Goshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh urged the government not to construct the hospital at the stadium and construct at the existing OGH premises.
In a video message, Raja Singh said the new OGH buildings should be constructed at the hospital space available at the hospital premises as it was situated at the centralized location. “If the hospital was constructed at Goshamahal stadium, it will be difficult for the people of the Old City and other areas to reach due to poor connectivity. It will be better if the new hospital building is constructed at the OGH premises,”he suggested.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to transfer the stadium land, which is currently under the control of police department, and expedite arrangements for the construction of new OGH there.
The locals residing in and around the Goshamahal area like Arya Samaj Mandir, Joshiwadi, Chaknawadi and Kotha Basti have formed a committee in the name of ‘Goshamahal Parirakshana Samithi’ to fight against the State government’s proposal.
The locals pointed out that the Goshamahal area is already choked with narrow roads and traffic woes continue to haunt them with all the major markets in and around the locality. There is a big fish market at Begum Bazar adjacent to the Police Grounds, the biggest Kirana and plastic market is also in the area, which makes the road busy all day and night. The Industrial Exhibition held every year during January and mid February also adds to the traffic chaos of the residents in the area.
