Hyderabad: Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh on Monday resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressing anguish over the central leadership’s reported decision to appoint former MLC N Ramchander Rao as the Telangana BJP president.
In a strongly-worded resignation letter addressed to State BJP president G Kishan Reddy, Raja Singh said the decision had come as a shock and disappointment not only to him but also to lakhs of karyakartas, leaders, and voters who stood by the party through thick and thin. He said this decision raised serious doubts about the direction the party was taking, particularly at a time when the BJP was poised to form its first government in Telangana.
Raja Singh alleged that some individuals with personal agendas had misled the central leadership and taken decisions from behind the curtain, sidelining grassroots workers. “This not only undermines the sacrifices of grassroots workers but also pushes the party into avoidable setbacks,” he wrote.
The three-time MLA said he could no longer stay silent or pretend that all was well. “This is not about personal ambition. This letter reflects the pain and frustration of lakhs of loyal BJP karyakartas and supporters who feel sidelined and unheard,” he added.
Urging G Kishan Reddy to inform the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly about his resignation from the party, Raja Singh reiterated his commitment to Hindutva and public service, especially for the people of Goshamahal, vowing to continue raising his voice for the Hindu community.
Calling his resignation a difficult but necessary decision, he said, “The silence of many should not be mistaken for agreement.” He urged senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, union Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh to reconsider the party’s course in Telangana.
“Telangana is ready for the BJP, but we must choose the right leadership to honour that opportunity and not let it slip away,” he stated.
