Rajanna-Sircilla: Telangana Rashtra Samithi workers staged a protest demonstration in Yellareddypet mandal headquarters on Saturday, demanding that the police register cases against BJP leaders who attacked TRS workers and damaged cars of sarpanches on Friday night.
After a clash between BJP and TRS workers that took place in Yellareddypet police station over the uploading of abusive comments on social media, BJP activists tried to attack on the house of TRS district president Thota Agaiah. However, police foiled their attempt. While rushing towards towards the TRS president’s house, BJP workers damaged window panes of two cars owned by ruling party sarpanches.
Enraged over the incident, TRS activists took out a rally in the mandal headquarters on Saturday and staged rasta roko on Sircilla-Kamareddy main road forcing the vehicular traffic to come to standstill.
They demanded that the police register cases against BJP workers who were involved in the attack and damaged window panes of cars besides cancellation of gun license of Reddaboina Gopi, who reportedly carried the gun during the time of attack.
They refused to withdraw their protest till the Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde visited the protest spot and gave clear assurance. Based on their demand, SP visited the spot and assured to register cases against the people involved in the attack. Informing that 12 persons were already arrested, he said that remaining people would also be arrested by watching CCTV footage and visuals recorded by police personnel with cameras.
Uploading of abusive comments on social media led to a confrontation between two groups, he informed and warned to take serious action if anybody uploads objectionable stuff on social media in the future.
