Rajasthan migrant arrested for wife’s murder in Malkajgiri

Police reported that the couple argued over Soni’s insistence on returning to their native place on November 20. During the argument, Vikram attacked her with a stick, causing severe bleeding injuries. Soni lost consciousness and was taken to Gandhi Hospital by Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force officials, but she later succumbed to her injuries.

Hyderabad: A migrant worker from Rajasthan was arrested on charges of killing his wife by thrashing her with a stick at Malkajgiri on Friday.

Vikram Kumar (38) migrated to the city along with his wife Soni (34) and one-year-old daughter on November 19 and was staying near the Malkajgiri railway station.


According to the police, the couple had an argument over Soni’s insistence that they return to their native place on November 20. During the argument, Vikram grabbed a stick and attacked her.
Soni suffered grievous bleeding injuries and fell unconscious. She was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital by the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force officials. She succumbed to injuries in the hospital later in the day.

Following the incident, Vikram fled from the spot with their daughter.

The Malkajgiri police booked a case and with the help of the surveillance cameras, nabbed him. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody and the infant was handed over to the Women and Child Welfare officials for safe custody.
