Rajasthan Royals didn’t get the combination right in Super Over, says Boucher

Boucher said the presence of Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag didn’t make much of a difference in the game. “What’s strange is that Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t come out, especially with Nitish Rana having been out there and doing a fantastic job,” he said.

Hyderabad: JioStar expert Mark Boucher said he was not sure whether Rajasthan Royals got the combination right in the Super Over against Delhi Capitals.

Boucher said the presence of Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag didn’t make much of a difference in the game. “What’s strange is that Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t come out, especially with Nitish Rana having been out there and doing a fantastic job,” he said.

On Mitchell Starc, Boucher said the pace bowler was exceptional in the final over. “In those big moments, you look to your senior players and he delivered. He nailed almost every delivery. This is exactly what you expect from someone with his experience and value. He got his field placements spot on and executed his plans to perfection,” he said.

“That over got Delhi Capitals back into the game. Once they clawed back, you just felt they had the edge over Rajasthan Royals in the Super Over—they had the better combination,” Boucher said.

On his fellow South AfricanTristan Stubbs who hit that winning six in the Super Over, Boucher said that the batter might be thankful for the chance to redeem himself after dropping a catch at a crucial moment earlier. “ But he got another opportunity to win the game—and he grabbed it. He’ll be very pleased with how it turned out,” he said.

Former India all-rounder and another Jio Star expert Ajay Jadeja felt this could be the Delhi Capitals’ year. “Of course, anything can happen from here, but the way Delhi Capitals have gone about things—they haven’t even used all their resources yet. No one has fully peaked, and that’s a positive,” he said.

“The ceiling is still ahead. If they’ve come this far without individual brilliance, the only way is up. Sure, there’s always risk, but they’re looking like a more complete unit this year,” Jadeja said.

“Once you get into the knockouts, it’s all about delivering on the day, but their consistency so far gives me hope that this could be their breakthrough season,” he said.
