Rajendranagar receives 110.8 mm rainfall, highest in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Rajendranagar and adjoining areas received a record 110.8 mm (11 cm) of rainfall in the heavy downpour on Monday evening followed closely by nearby Sivaramapalle area (under Rajendranagar mandal), which received 96.8 mm (9.6 cm) of rainfall, according to the real-time automated weather station data from Telangana State Development and Planning Society (TSDPS).

The intensity of the rains under the influence of cyclone Gulab was such that within a matter of few hours, some of the other areas in southern parts of Hyderabad including Charminar received a maximum rainfall of 80.8 mm (8.8 cm).


The Central University areas in Serilingampally received 78.3 mm (7.8 cm) of rainfall while BHEL area in Ramachandrapuram received about 77 (7.7 cm) of rainfall, the TSDPS data said. The Madhapur region, which falls under Serilingampally mandal, received 75.5 (7.5 cm) of rainfall by Monday evening.

Apart from Southern parts of Hyderabad, areas under Medchal-Malkajgiri also received copious amounts of rainfall. The Kapra region including Cherlapally and areas near Kapra GHMC circle office area received about 74.8 mm (7.4 cm) of rainfall.

Hyderabad will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall, with a few spells of heavy downpours at some places on Tuesday, according to the data by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS). The maximum temperature during the next two days will be between 29 degree Celsius and 31 degree Celsius while minimum temperature will range from 20 degree Celsius to 22 degree Celsius.
