Nalgonda: Congress MLA from Munugode Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy has urged the State government to ensure equal allocation of funds to all constituencies, particularly underdeveloped areas such as Munugode. His demand comes after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy laying foundation stone for development works worth Rs.9,000 crore in Kodangal.
“It is not my intention to suggest that development projects should not be sanctioned for Kodangal. But what sin have the people of Munugode committed? Why are we not receiving any funds?” Rajgopal Reddy asked.
The Munugode MLA was speaking at the retirement function of Sunkari Biksham Goud, former State president of the Progressive Recognized Teachers’ union and headmaster of the MPP School in Munugode.
Addressing the gathering, Rajgopal Reddy said the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues should treat all constituencies equally.
“You (Revanth Reddy) became Chief Minister through a stroke of good fortune. I do not find fault with that. There is a strong desire to develop Munugode constituency, which suffers from the highest levels of fluoride contamination,” he said.
The Congress MLA said he had approached both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka several times, seeking funds and development projects for Munugode.
“I urge the government to recognise the needs of Munugode and other underdeveloped constituencies. Justice should be done to such constituencies,” Rajgopal Reddy said.
He also said corruption was deeply entrenched in society. “If a leader is ethical, they can provide ethical administration to society. If leaders engage in corruption, the poor in society will not receive justice,” he stressed.
Rajgopal Reddy said the Congress was a party that stood for the poor, marginalised communities and weaker sections. He claimed to have made efforts to secure the party’s support for Sunkari Biksham Goud as its candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates constituency MLC elections.
“With the intention of giving greater prominence to the Backward Classes (BCs), I advocated for the ticket to be given to Sunkari Biksham Goud, who hails from the BC community,” Rajgopal Reddy said. He added that people were the ultimate arbiters of justice.
