Rajgopal Reddy slams Congress high command again for denying Cabinet berth

Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy renewed his attack on the Congress high command for denying him a cabinet berth, questioning why Nalgonda was overlooked despite similar representation in Khammam. He urged the party to honour its promise and avoid discrimination in development works.

Nalgonda: Continuing his attack on the Congress high command for denying him a cabinet berth, Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy questioned why the formula applied in Khammam was not considered for Nalgonda.

Pointing out that of the nine MLAs elected from erstwhile Khammam, three were inducted into the cabinet, he said Nalgonda had 11 Congress MLAs and there was nothing wrong in accommodating three of them in the cabinet as well.

Rajgopal Reddy, along with MLC Nelakanti Satyam, formally inaugurated a new Gram Panchayat building at Yelagalagudem in Munugode mandal on Tuesday.

He said that before the Assembly elections, while assuring him of a cabinet berth, the Congress high command was fully aware of the political stature of the Komatireddy brothers.

“We both are capable and eligible leaders and there should be no issue if we both are made Ministers. When equations can work for Khammam, why cannot they work for Nalgonda? Is anyone raising objections?” he asked.

The MLA said he was prepared to wait for the party to keep its word. The high command had promised twice, before the Assembly and Parliament elections, to induct him into the cabinet, but even after 18 months, it had failed to honour the commitment.

“I can bear injustice to me but not to Munugode constituency. There should be no discrimination in sanctioning funds for development works here,” Rajgopal Reddy said.

He also referred to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s recent statement to a vernacular news channel, in which Bhatti admitted the party had promised to induct him into the cabinet after coming to power. Rajgopal Reddy thanked him for acknowledging it and sought his support for developing the constituency.
