Rajgopal Reddy targets Revanth over radial road tenders to AP firms, alleges Rs 600 cr loss to Telangana
Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy alleged that Radial Road-2 tenders were awarded to Andhra Pradesh-based firms despite his son’s company bidding nearly Rs 600 crore lower. He alleged irregularities, dummy bids and interference by the Chief Minister’s Office in tendering.
Hyderabad: Congress MLA from Munugode Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy has expressed strong displeasure with the Congress government, particularly Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, alleging that tenders for radial roads were awarded to Andhra Pradesh-based companies, causing a loss of nearly Rs 600 crore to Telangana.
The Congress MLA said his son’s firm had submitted bids for all three packages under the Radial Road-2 project at rates nearly Rs 600 crore lower than those quoted by other companies. However, the tenders were awarded to three Andhra Pradesh-based companies, he said during a telephonic conversation with a television channel.
“Despite meeting all the eligibility criteria, our company was disqualified and our bids were not opened. This is not just about my company but about the loss to the State exchequer. The State government is raising loans for these works and paying these companies,” Rajgopal Reddy alleged.
The Congress MLA further alleged that some companies were asked to submit dummy bids. He claimed that the Chief Minister’s Office had instructed other companies not to participate in the tender process and that similar calls were made to his son’s firm as well.
“We said nothing doing and insisted that the government needs to be transparent in tenders. There is rampant corruption,” Rajgopal Reddy said during the conversation, which is being circulated on social media.
The Munugode MLA said he would take up the issue with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, if necessary. “This is a major scam in the Chief Minister’s portfolio,” he alleged. Rajgopal Reddy did not travel to New Delhi along with Ministers and MLAs on Monday.
