The trailer of sports drama “Toolsidas Junior”, last film late actor Rajiv Kapoor featured in, co-starring Sanjay Dutt in a spectacular role, & child artist Varun Buddhadev, is emotionally touching story about father-son and their love for snooker. The amazingly inspirational trailer filled with so many emotions is also super enjoyable for Sanjay Dutt’s outstanding presence. This is so good and impressive that it is not just a trailer, but a full movie!
The trailer opens with Rajiv Kapoor (playing Toolsidas) as a snooker player. He proudly proclaims to everyone in the club that he plays the game only for his son who loves to see his father winning matches and becoming a champion.
Toolsidas wants to win this year’s snooker tournament against Jimmy Tandon (Dilip Tahhil), who has been winning the event year after year. But, he loses and is disappointed. The son Toolsidas Jr (Varun Buddhadev) now wants to learn the game, become a champion one day and wants to see his father’s name in the winner’s list.
As the boy is only 16, he is told he cannot compete with others in professional matches. Not giving up, he approaches snooker expert Mohammed Salam (Sanjay Dutt) to learn the game. Sanjay Dutt with his appearance now just lights up the screens. It is entertaining to see that in the typical Sanjay Dutt style, his character playing Mohammed Salam while teaching the game to Toolsidas Jr, refers to yellow ball as jaundice, brown ball as chakalate (chocolate) and green one as totta (parrot). And, when he goes on to utter the punch lines, “Jaundice ko Rajinikanth ka punch, Totta ko Mithun ka Disco King aur Kaalia ko Bachchan sahab ka full chamaat”, we can see glimpses of Baba, as Sanjay Dutt is fondly called, coming back to his trademark action mode.
At the end of the trailer when Toolsidas Jr asks Sanjay Dutt, “Iss game ko snooker kyu bulate hain? (Why is this game called snooker?), Sanjay Dutt replies, “Pataa nahi” (I don’t know), which elicits laughter from one and all.
A great movie is coming for whole family! The inspiring sports drama based on real events, helmed by Mridul, is produced by Ashutosh Gowariker (who has co-written the screenplay with the director) and Sunita Gowariker under Ashutosh Gowariker Productions along with Bhushan and Krishan Kumar under T-Series.
“Toolsidas Junior” was late Rajiv Kapoor’s return to films 30 years after his 1990 movie “Zimmedaaar”. The film will release on March 4, 2022. Rajiv Kapoor, the youngest son of legendary Raj Kapoor, passed away last year following a cardiac arrest.
