Hyderabad: M Venkat Ram Reddy of Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) settled for a bronze in the men’s 800m event at the fourth South Asian Senior Athletics Championship at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi according to M. Narayana Rao , Chairman, Selection Committee Andhra Pradesh Athletics Association .
The Andhra athlete clocked 1 minute 52.03 seconds in the final held on Sunday, contributing to India’s medal tally.
Ram Reddy, who bagged a ‘golden double’ in the recent Junior Nationals, is mentored by SAI athletics coach G. Subba Rao.
A.V. Raghavendra Rao, Joint Secretary of the Athletics Federation of India, K. Madhu Sudhan Rao, President of the Andhra Pradesh Athletics Association (APAA), and D. Nageswara Rao, Chairman of the Planning Committee of APAA, were present.
In separate statements, SAAP Chairman A. Ravi Naidu and S. Bharani IFS, VC & MD of SAAP, congratulated Ram Reddy.
