Peddapalli: In the wake of senior Maoist leaders, including central committee member Yapa Narayana alias Haribushan, succumbing to Covid-19 and a number of Naxalites still suffering from the deadly virus, Ramagundam Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana met Madhuramma, mother of Maoist party central committee member Mallojula Venugopal Rao, on Thursday.
Satyanarayana visited Venugopal Rao’s house in Peddapalli town, interacted with Madhuramma and other family members and enquired about their health and the family’s condition. The Commissioner urged the family members to appeal to Venugopal Rao to give up arms and join the mainstream.
Satyanarayana said Naxalites had achieved nothing through their ideology and violence. Asking the Covid-hit Maoists to give up arms, he assured them of providing proper treatment. “You can lead a wonderful life with your families instead of living in the forests. Give up arms and join the mainstream,” he appealed to the Maoists.
Peddapalli DCP P Ravinder, OSD Sharath Chandra Pawar, Peddapalli ACP Srangapani, CIs Pradeep (town) and Anil (traffic) were present.
