Hyderabad: BJP State president N Ramchander Rao on Monday claimed that the Jubilee Hills by-election was a direct fight between the BJP and AIMIM, as Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav had earlier contested on an AIMIM ticket.
Rao, who held a meeting with senior party leaders to discuss campaign strategies, said that if people failed to elect BJP candidate L Deepak Reddy, AIMIM’s strength in the Assembly would rise to eight.
“If AIMIM has to be stopped, people should elect Deepak Reddy,” he said, alleging that both the BRS and the Congress had failed to ensure development in the Jubilee Hills constituency.
He further accused the Congress government of failing to maintain law and order in the State. Referring to the recent incidents of a police constable being stabbed by an accused and the attack on a ‘Gau rakshak’, Rao said the Congress had created an atmosphere where rowdies would get a free hand if it won the by-election.
