Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar asked officials to take steps to supply sufficient coal in view of the rising demand for electricity in the State.

At a review meeting with the officials concerned at Singareni Bhavan here on Tuesday, he wanted officials to produce 1.90 lakh tonnes of coal every day and transport it to power generation companies. Since there is a huge demand for coal from these companies, officials must make systematic arrangements to ensure the supply of coal in at least 35 rakes every day, he said.

He said a request was also made to the Maharashtra Chief Secretary to give permission for transportation of explosive material for its use in open-cast mines. Efforts are on to complete the construction of an oxygen plant at Ramagundam area hospital in 10 days for supplying medical oxygen to needy patients in Singareni hospitals.

The oxygen plant would be inaugurated in 10 days, Sridhar said, instructing officials to supply sufficient medicines and injections to meet the requirements of patients in the Singareni hospitals. He said workers’ unions should play a crucial role in instilling confidence among patients in these hospitals.
