Ranchi: Ranchi Royals continued their winning run in the Men’s Hockey India League (HIL), registering their third consecutive victory with a 4-1 win against JSW Soorma Hockey Club in their final home game of the season at the Marang Gomke Jagpal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium here on Friday.

A brace from Tom Boon (20’, 22’) and goals from Mandeep Singh (47’) and Manmeet Singh Rai (14’) helped Ranchi Royals climb to third place on the points table. Jeetpal (52’) scored the only goal for Soorma Club.

JSW Soorma Hockey Club earned their first penalty corner within five minutes but failed to beat Suraj Karkera in goal. Despite three penalty corners in the first quarter, the Royals struck first when Sam Lane’s ricochet found Manmeet Singh Rai, who guided the ball into the net in the 14th minute.

The hosts doubled their lead through Tom Boon, who scored from close range in the 20th minute before converting a dragflick two minutes later to give Ranchi a three-goal cushion at halftime.

Soorma Club dominated possession in the second half but were denied by Joshua Beltz’s goal-line clearance. Ranchi Royals sealed the result in the final quarter when Araijeet Singh Hundal set up Mandeep Singh (47’). Jeetpal pulled one back for Soorma in the 52nd minute, but it was only a consolation as Ranchi wrapped up their home leg with a third straight win.
