Hyderabad: Hyderabad require 197 more runs to secure victory on the final day of their Ranji Trophy Group B clash against Vidarbha after finishing Day 3 at 23/1 in pursuit of a 220-run target in Nagpur on Saturday.
Vidarbha, who resumed their second innings at 56/2, were powered by Karun Nair’s superb 105 (14×4, 1×6). The experienced batter steadied the innings after early setbacks and found an able partner in Atharva Taide, who scored 93 (10×4, 1×6), with the duo stitching together a crucial 124-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Hyderabad’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj (3/59), kept chipping away at the wickets, ensuring Vidarbha did not pose a big challenge. Chama Milind (2/41), Rakshann Readdi (2/76) and Tanay Thyagarajan (2/78) also played vital roles as Vidarbha were eventually bowled out for 355, setting Hyderabad a target of 220.
In reply, Hyderabad lost Tanmay Agarwal (6) early, caught and bowled by Yash Thakur, but Abhirath Reddy on 9 and Thyagarajan on 7 ensured there was no further damage before stumps.
