Hyderabad: All-rounder T Ravi Teja backed up his second innings half-century with a fiery 4/70 bowling figures while spinner Tanay Thyarajan and pacer Bhuvanagiri Punnaiah scalped three and two wickets apiece as Hyderabad crushed Baroda by 43 runs inside three days in the Group B Ranji Trophy match in Cuttack, on Saturday.
Ravi Teja returned with a match haul of 8/120 bowling figures to be adjudged Player of the Match. This is his second award in three matches. He also bagged the award in the opening match against Chandigarh. With the victory, Hyderabad now have 12 points from two victories after the league phase. However, for them to advance to knockouts, Bengal, who currently top the table with 12 points, need to lose to Chandigarh. However, Bengal is in a comfortable position against Chandigarh.
Earlier, resuming at the overnight score of 169/6, Hyderabad were all out for 201 runs to give Baroda a target of 235 runs for the victory. Hyderabad then skittle out Baroda for 192 in 53.4 overs. Overnight batter and opener K Rohit Rayudu (49) was dismissed for the first ball of the day. However, Ravi Teja, who resumed at 36, reached half-century and added crucial 31 runs for the eight wicket with Tanay Thyagarajan before being dismissed for 56 (123 bass; 8×4). For Baroda, BA Pathan scalped four while LI Meriwala took three wickets.
Rookie Punnaiah removed openers JK Singh and Kedar Devdhar inside five overs before Ravi Teja removed PA Kumar. Tanay then got rid of Shivalik Sharma and VN Solanki who added 34 runs for the fourth wicket as Baroda were struggling at 89/5.
Abhimanyusingh (28) added 30 runs for the sixth wicket with Mitesh Patel. Ravi Teja returned to break the partnership by dismissing Abhimanyusingh and Mitesh while Tanay sent Bharag Bhatt to the pavilion in between. Ravi Teja took his fourth wicket by dismissing LI Meriwala while M Surya Prasad ended the Baroda innings with a lone wicket.
