Medak: Historians have unearthed a rare 10-11th century sculpture of Lord Vishnu which depicts the four Avatars. Medak: Historians have unearthed a rare 10-11th century sculpture of Lord Vishnu which depicts the four Avatars. Member of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam (KTCB) Kolipaka Srinivas discovered the sculpture at Rukmapur village of Chegunta Mandal.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Srinivas said he also found Saptha Matrukas sculpture, Lord Anjaneya idol in the temple, Shivalinga, Nandi, Lord Vinayaka, Lord Surya and other sculptures.
Founder of KTCB, Sriramoju Haragopal said Lord Vishnu’s sculpture has the four Avatars, Varaha-Kurma-Matsya-Buddha, carved in the Chalukya style sculpture. He said they had never come across a sculpture of Lord Vishnu with four Avatars in the past. The Vinayaka sculpture was in Rashtrakutas style. The members of KTCB urged the government to initiate steps to protect the rare sculptures.
