JOGULAMBA GADWAL: Three students of Mahatma Jyothibha Phule Gurukul in Undavalli mandal were admitted to hospital after being bitten by rats.
The incident, which came to light belatedly, has exposed negligence at the school where students had repeatedly complained about the rat menace but their concerns were ignored. Along with the rat issue, nearly 20 students reportedly fell ill with viral fevers.
Just a few days ago, students had staged protests demanding basic amenities and proper sanitation, yet no corrective action was taken by the staff.
Following an inspection, District Collector B Santosh suspended two officials and issued memos to three other staff members, reports said.
