Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team, along with the Narayanpur police, raided a farmhouse and busted a rave party at Gandhinagar thanda on the city outskirts here around midnight on Thursday.

Seven organisers and 90 guests, including two women, most of them private employees and techies, apart from a few students, were arrested. Also, 400 grams of marijuana, three LSD blots, 120 liquor bottles, 15 cars, 30 bikes and 76 mobile phones and other material were seized.

The arrested organisers were Girish Dhanuvai (29), a businessman; J Srikar Reddy (22), a BTech student; Ch Sharath Chandra (26), a businessman; Shaik Umrfarooq (22), a diploma holder in mechanical engineering; J Dhanwanth Reddy (48), a businessman; B Prem (23), a private employee; and Syed Arman Ali Reza (28), who arranged a DJ and music system from New Delhi.

According to the police, Girish, Srikar, Sharath Chandra and Shaik Umar Farooq had chosen the farmhouse of Dhanwanth Reddy, Srikar’s father, at Gandhinagar thanda for the party since it is in a remote area. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said they had designed a poster with details of the rave party and shared on Girish’s social media accounts, including Instagram.

“In the poster, they mentioned that the entry fee was Rs 499, excluding food, drinks and other addictive substances. To attract customers, they also provided liquor, marijuana and LSD,” Bhagwat said, adding that Prem arranged the drugs.

“To divert the attention of the police, the organisers planned the party on a day coinciding with an important festival like Mahashivarathri, so that most of the force will be on bandobast duties,” the Commissioner said, adding that the party was attended by nearly 100 people from the city and outskirts including students, private employees and techies.

The organisers were booked under sections of the NDPS Act and the IPC and produced before court. Police said the same organisers had arranged a similar party a few months ago at Laknavaram of Warangal.
