Hyderabad: A day after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao launched a blistering attack against him, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday said he was ready for a debate on the paddy procurement issue at Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park. “Let us discuss the issue in the presence of senior journalists,” he said, interacting with media persons in New Delhi.
Stating that he belongs to a farmer’s family, Reddy said he was not pained with the abuses showered on him as the people are watching everything. “While speaking on behalf of the farmers, I said the Chief Minister could have spoken due to insecurity after the result in Huzurabad Assembly constituency. I don’t know whether he likes me or not as a Minister,” Kishan Reddy said.
“I am not scared of anyone and for me, my party, its flag and my people in Telangana and India are more important,” he said, adding that he has been in politics for the last 40 years. Explaining the role he played during the Statehood movement, he said he did not get an appointment from the Chief Minister’s Office when he tried to meet him after becoming the Union Minister for State for Home Affairs. He said the Telangana people will ultimately decide who is who. “Apart from MP and Union Minister, I was an MLA for over 15 years but I did not use abusive language,” he said, stating that he was committed to whatever he said on the procurement issue.
