Hyderabad: Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Sunday expressed his willingness to apologise to the members of Gangaputra community in the wake of his remarks attributing primary fishing rights to the Mudiraj community recently. He clarified that the statement was not meant to hurt anyone and that he was ready to apologise if he had hurt the sentiments of any community.
In a statement here, the Minister pointed out that successive governments in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh did not care for the communities earning their livelihood through traditional occupations. He said the State government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was striving for the development of all sections of society through novel schemes. The Chief Minister, he said, introduced several welfare and development schemes to benefit Gangaputra, Mudiraj, Bestha and other communities who were dependent on fishing for livelihood.
“I did not make any comments that would hurt the sentiments of the Gangaputra community during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Mudiraj Bhavan recently. However, I am ready to apologise,” he added.
