Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police Special Operations Team foiled an alleged murder plan and arrested a realtor, who was allegedly plotting to kill his rival at Shamshabad on Tuesday. Police seized two country firearms and 44 live rounds from him.
The arrested person was Mohd Farooq Ahmed (44) alias Saithan Farooq from Gagan Pahad in Shamshabad and a native of Mahabubnagar. He was involved in a dozen cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police, Farooq Ahmed, who returned to India from Saudi Arabia in 2011, started doing real estate business. Due to financial disputes, he bought a firearm from one Khader, a resident of Rajendranagar in 2016 and allegedly killed two persons at Kalwakurthy and Mahabubnagar in a single day.
“He was arrested and jailed. After being released on bail, he purchased three more firearms from two dealers from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and started committing armed burglaries, robberies and extortions,” an official from the Cyberabad SOT said, adding that he was arrested several times and was also detained under the Preventive Detention Act in 2018 by the Hyderabad Police. Again after being released from the jail, he procured two more firearms.
When in jail, Farooq became friends with Jabber and Kaleemuddin and discussed about his rival Murthuza, a rowdy sheeter from Rajendranagar, who was allegedly involved in several cases including murder. After being released from jail, Farooq bought two country made pistols from one Faisal from Meerut for Rs.35,000 each along with 44 bullets.
Following a tip-off from Murthuza, the Hyderabad Task Force picked up Farooq for questioning in a case and let him off. Subsequently, he learnt that Murthuza had plotted to eliminate him and decided to kill Murthuza instead.
“He wanted to kill Murthuza thinking he would get good name and support from local residents apart from making more followers. With the reputation thus earned, he wanted to continue his real estate business,” a senior SOT official said, adding that he was planning the murder for more than a week.
Following a tip-off, he was caught and the firearms and bullets were seized from him.
